Shimla, Oct 17: An earthquake of magnitude 4.1 struck Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla district in the early hours of Saturday, October 17, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

The latest tremor comes amid seismic activity reported in the Himalayan region. Earlier, on October 6, a magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district.
The Himalayan region is seismically active due to the ongoing collision between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. However, there is no established evidence linking the two recent earthquakes.
Further updates on the Shimla earthquake are expected as more information becomes available from the authorities.
