Cuttack: The Cuttack Traffic Police have imposed a series of traffic restrictions across the city from October 17 to 21 in view of Durga Puja celebrations and the expected rush of visitors to puja pandals.
The restrictions will generally remain in force from 2 pm to 10 pm, or until the crowd subsides, DCP KhilariRishikeshDnyandeo said. The measures include restrictions on vehicle movement along major roads, one-way traffic arrangements, curbs on heavy vehicles and diversions to alternative routes to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety.
A separate restriction will be in force in the Chowdhury Bazar area, where vehicle movement will be prohibited from 4 pm to midnight, or until the crowd subsides. Heavy vehicles will also face restrictions on designated stretches of the Ring Road, including the section between Mani Mandir Chhak and Judicial Academy Chhak.
Restrictions will apply to four-wheelers and heavy vehicles travelling towards OMP along the Nua Bazar–OMP stretch. Traffic movement in the Mangalabag and Howrah Motor–OMP areas will also be regulated, with restrictions on certain connecting routes.

One-way traffic arrangements and restrictions on buses and other vehicles will also be enforced on designated inner-city roads to reduce congestion.
The traffic police have advised commuters to follow diversion signs and instructions issued by personnel deployed at major intersections. Motorists have also been advised to allow additional travel time during the evening hours, when large numbers of visitors are expected at puja pandals.
