Cuttack, Sept 17: Preparations for the famous Cuttack Dussehra 2026 have already started, with several puja committees gearing up to add a grand festive touch to the city. Among them, the Khan Nagar Khapuria Industrial Area Puja Committee is once again preparing an eye-catching arch inspired by a famous architectural landmark.
This year, the Khan Nagar puja committee plans to create an arch inspired by the iconic Swarved Mahamandir near Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. The structure is expected to be around 50 feet high and will feature elaborate lighting and decorative artwork, adding to the grandeur of Cuttack’s Dussehra celebrations.
According to the puja committee, construction of the pandal is scheduled to begin from Ganesh Puja. Even before construction has started, the upcoming attraction has already generated considerable interest on social media.
Khan Nagar’s Unique Dussehra Theme
The Khan Nagar Khapuria Industrial Area Puja Committee has earned recognition over the years for creating distinctive and elaborate pandals based on different themes.
In previous years, the committee has showcased themes inspired by the Kargil War, Operation Sindoor, Meenakshi Temple and Vaishno Devi Temple, among others. Continuing the tradition, this year’s Swarved Mahamandir-inspired structure is expected to become one of the major attractions during the festive season.
Artisans from Kolkata will reportedly be brought in to construct the large-scale pandal. Special lighting work will further highlight the architectural details of the structure.
Cuttack’s Grand Dussehra Tradition
Cuttack is renowned for its distinctive Dussehra celebrations, particularly its spectacular gold and silver medha (decorative backdrops) of Goddess Durga. The city also draws visitors from different parts of Odisha and beyond for its elaborate pandals, lighting decorations, cultural programmes and musical events.
Every year, puja committees in areas such as Badambadi, Malgodown, Khan Nagar, Sikharpur, Choudhury Bazar, Chawliaganj and Bidanasi, among others, compete to create visually striking decorations and lighting arrangements.
With the preparations already underway, the Khan Nagar Dussehra 2026 celebrations are expected to add another spectacular chapter to Cuttack’s rich festive and cultural tradition.
