These Dubai-bound flights were forced to perform U-turns and head back to their original Indian airports due to sudden safety alerts. While one flight from Mumbai successfully navigated the restricted zone after several tactical maneuvers, most other carriers opted for caution. Reports of drone activity and security threats also caused several Riyadh-bound flights from global hubs to abort their journeys.
Indian Carriers Launch Emergency Repatriation
Indian airlines are stepping up to assist those stranded by the crisis. IndiGo has announced 10 dedicated relief flights from Jeddah to major Indian cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad. Chairman Ajay Singh emphasized that bringing Indians home is the company's highest priority during this period of instability. On the diplomatic front, the Cabinet Committee on Security, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has met to review the safety of the million-plus Indian diaspora in the region.
State Governments Activate Emergency Helpdesks
Regional leaders across India are taking independent action to track their residents. From Karnataka to Maharashtra, state-level emergency centers are now operating 24/7. Karnataka has identified over 100 stranded citizens, while Andhra Pradesh is advising its people to use Muscat as a transit point for safer passage back to Kochi. Specific helplines, including WhatsApp-based support for those in Dubai, have been established to provide real-time updates to worried families.
