Koraput, Oct 25: Tension prevailed at Kunduli Hatapada under Pottangi police limits in Odisha’s Koraput district after two persons were brutally murdered.
According to sources, a youth from Tema village, identified as Govardhana Pandaka, was returning home after watching Ravana Podi celebrations at Kunduli last night.
On the way, he reportedly had an altercation with two persons of Hatapadar, identified as Jogulu Rudi and his son Rajkumar Rudi, over some issue.
It later took an ugly turn when the father-son duo attacked Govardhana with sharp-edged weapons killing him on the spot.
After learning about Govardhana’s death, his family members arrived at the scene. Later, the situation escalated after they attacked the assailants to avenge Govardhana’s death. In the process, the Rajkumar was killed.
Tension prevailed in the area following the gruesome incident.
Upon getting the information, police rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation. The cops have seized the bodies and sent them for post-mortem.
Adequate police force has been deployed at the spot to maintain law and order and prevent the situation from escalating further. Koraput SP was also arrived at the spot and pacified the agitators.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
