Dhenkanal, Aug 13: The Dhenkanal police, under the leadership of Superintendent of Police (SP), carried out a special enforcement drive titled Operation Garud from 1 to 10 August 2025, targeting the execution of warrants, seizure of illegal arms, and preventive measures under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in preparation for the upcoming festival season.
The operation yielded notable results, with 73 warrants executed, including the disposal of 36 non-bailable warrants. Police also detected and seized six illegal arms, arresting seven individuals for possessing them without valid licences.
In addition, prosecutions were filed against 306 persons under Section 126 BNSS (equivalent to Section 107 of the CrPC), while preventive measures under Section 129 BNSS (equivalent to Section 110 of the CrPC) were applied against 49 individuals. The crackdown also uncovered 41 excise cases, leading to 12 arrests, while 29 others were released on bail.
Commending the efforts of his team, the SP expressed gratitude to all officers-in-charge across Dhenkanal district, highlighting their dedication and commitment in keeping a significant number of antisocial elements behind bars.
