Puri, Jan 15: Director General of Police(DGP) In-Charge Arun Sarangi on Monday visited Puri and reviewed the elaborate security arrangement in place, ahead of the inaugural ceremony of the Shri Jagannath Temple Heritage Corridor Project scheduled on Jan 17.
During interaction with the reporters Sarangi said, Puri shrine has been put under a security blanket under the direct supervision of IG (Central) and SP Puri for the inauguration of the Srimandir Parikrama (Puri Heritage Corridor) Project.
Sarangi said that elaborate security arrangements for the event have been put in place for the last few days in view of the safety and security of the visitors and for the smooth management of the spiritual festivity. On January 17, a four-layer security blanket will be in place. All associated arrangements have been made from traffic arrangements to security for VIPs, security of devotees, smooth darshan by devotees, etc.
At least 100 supervisory officers, 250 Sub Inspector and ASIs, 80 platoons of armed forces including constables and home guards will be deployed for the purpose, Sarangi said.
Four bomb disposal teams, anti-sabotage teams, and three canine squads have been deployed to search for suspected objects and sanitize the area, added the DGP-in-charge.
