The sibling deities are placed on the bathing platform, where they are bathed with 108 pitchers of sacred water. Following the holy bath, the deities are adorned in Gajanana Besha.

Early in the morning, the idols of Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Balabhadra are brought out from the Ratnasinhasan of the Jagannath Puri Temple. These idols are then taken to the snana bedi, or the bathing altar. Before the main bathing ceremony on Devasnana Purnima, priests perform various pujas and rituals using a total of 108 pitchers filled with herbal and aromatic water to bathe the three main deities.

After the bath, the deities are dressed in Sada Besha. Later in the night, the three main deities – Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Balabhadra – retire to the Anasar House. During this Anasar period, devotees are forbidden to see the idols of the Lord.

After a full fortnight of rest, the deities reappear to the public in a ceremony called Netrotsav, which takes place a day before Srigundicha—the first day of Rath Yatra.
