The attacker, identified as Rajesh from Rajkot, has been booked under Section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for attempt to murder. He is currently in custody at the Civil Lines police station.

According to Delhi Police, Rajesh reached the capital by train on Tuesday morning and checked into Gujarati Bhavan in Civil Lines. Investigations revealed he was in contact with a friend in Gujarat and had informed him after reaching the CM’s residence. Police are now seeking his remand for further interrogation, with both the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Special Cell joining the probe.

CCTV footage from the Chief Minister’s residence indicates that the attack was pre-planned. The Delhi CMO stated that Rajesh had conducted reconnaissance of the area and recorded videos of the premises at least a day before the incident.

“The cowardly attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is part of a well-planned conspiracy. The footage clearly shows the attacker preparing for the strike in advance,” the CMO said in a statement.
