Bhubaneswar, Feb 24: The Commissionerate Police has intensified its crackdown against people driving under the influence of alcohol. As many as 201 persons have been arrested in February on charges of driving under intoxication.
The traffic police stations have arrested 100 men for drunk driving and other 101 have been arrested by different police stations under Bhubaneswar Urban Police District (UPD).
Similarly, police have seized around 200 vehicles during this period, including 28 luxury cars.
On the other hand, police have approached RTO - I and RTO - II for cancelation of driving licenses of 300 for violating traffic rules.
Police have been conducting night blocking at different places across the city and every police station in the city has been supplied with adequate number of breath analyser kits, deputy commissioner of police Prateek Singh said.
The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act-2019 mandates immediate arrest of drunken drivers and seizure of their vehicles.
