Bhubaneswar, Dec 4: The joining of retired Odisha Administrative Service officer Meghanada Nayak in Congres now has become a topic of discussion in Sundargarh district. It has also created a ray of hope for Congress in the constituency.
Ever since the Sundargarh seat was reserved for tribals in 2009, all major political parties have been relying on fielding candidates from Bhuyan tribe.
Meghanada, a resident of Sundargarh Sadar Constituency also belongs to the Bhuyan community whereas the current BJP MLA Kusum Tete does not belong to this tribe..
For the first time, Congress has started playing Bhuyan card in the district with former MLA Janardhan Dehury, from the Bhuyan community appointed as the district president of the Congress.
It is speculated that Congress may field Nayak from the Sundargarh seat this time
In 2009 and 2014 Congress had fielded Bhuyan candidate Jogesh Singh and won the seat. Now two-time Congress MLA Jogesh Singh has moved to BJD,
