Commercial LPG cylinder prices slashed by ₹183.50; hotels & restaurants get relief

New Delhi, Jul 1: Commercial establishments across India received significant relief from July 1 after oil marketing companies (OMCs) reduced the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by ₹183.50, marking the first price cut this year. However, there is no change in the price of domestic LPG cylinders used by households.

The revised rates came into effect on Tuesday as part of the monthly fuel price revision. Following the reduction, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has fallen from ₹3,113.50 to ₹2,930.

The price cut is expected to benefit businesses that rely heavily on commercial LPG, including hotels, restaurants, roadside eateries, bakeries, catering services, and cloud kitchens, by reducing their operating costs.

The latest reduction reverses a series of steep hikes witnessed over the past few months. Commercial LPG prices had surged due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which disrupted global energy markets, raised international LPG prices, and increased import costs. The sharpest increase was recorded in May, forcing businesses to bear higher fuel expenses.

While commercial consumers have received relief, household consumers will continue to pay the existing price for the standard 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder, as oil companies have kept domestic cooking gas rates unchanged. Domestic LPG prices are reviewed on the first day of every month but are influenced not only by international fuel prices but also by government policy.

In a separate development, private fuel retailer Nayara Energy has reduced petrol prices by ₹5 per litre and diesel prices by ₹3 per litre, citing the recent softening of international crude oil prices.

Although the latest reduction signals easing pressure in global LPG markets, commercial LPG prices remain higher than the levels seen before this year's surge. Businesses are expected to benefit immediately from lower fuel costs, while millions of households will have to wait for any relief in domestic cooking gas prices.
