China pair upset Indian top seed in Odisha masters mix-doubles semis

Bhubaneswar: The China pair Chngao Jia Xuan and Chntang Rui Zhi edged out top seed Indian pair Sathish Kumar Karunakaran and Aadya Variyath by 21-19, 16-21, 21-16 and barged into the mixed-doubles final to face seventh seed France duo Julien Maio and Lea Palermo.

In the semifinals, racing from the back Julian and Lea beat China pair Zhang Han Yu and Chnbao Li Jing by 18-21, 21-18, 22-20.

In the women’s doubles event, Gayatri Rawat and Mansa Rawat edged out their country-mate Kanika Kanwal and Bharti Pal 21-16, 15-21, 21-11. In the final the Indian pair will face Japan duo Nanako Hara and Riko Kiyose.

Cai Yan Yan, Sorano Yoshhikawa (Japan), Shriyanshi Valishetty and Tanvi Sharma (Both from India) entered the women’s singles semifinals.

Similarly, Rithvik Sanjeevi Satish Kumar, Tharun Mannepalli, sixth seed Sathish Kumar Karunakaran (all from India) and eighth seed Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul (Thiland) won their respective quarterfinals and lined up for the semifinals.
