New Delhi, Dec 13: Delhi Police today reported that four schools in the capital received bomb threats via email. Fire and police officials immediately reached the spot, but no suspicious items were found at any of the locations.
This follows a similar scare earlier in the week when over 40 schools in Delhi were targeted by bomb threat emails. The threatening messages demanded a ransom of Rs 30,000, warning that bombs were planted inside school buildings.
The sender claimed the bombs were small and hidden well, causing minimal damage to the buildings but posing a significant risk to people's safety. The email stated, "If I do not receive Rs 30,000, I will detonate the bombs."
On December 9, two additional schools in Delhi’s RK Puram and Paschim Vihar were also threatened in a similar manner. In response, school administrations evacuated students and sent them home, while authorities began investigations. "Fire and police teams have been informed," Delhi Police said.
This rise in bomb threats prompted action from the Delhi High Court, which, on November 19, directed the Delhi Government and Delhi Police to create a comprehensive action plan.
The plan includes a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to handle bomb threats and related emergencies. The Court has set an eight-week deadline for the completion of these measures to enhance safety and preparedness.
