Jajpur, Oct 8: Tension gripped Vyasanagar Autonomous College in Jajpur district after bombs were allegedly hurled on the campus ahead of the upcoming student council elections, triggering panic among students and staff.
The incidents reportedly took place late Wednesday night and early Thursday, with the principal’s official residence and the boys’ hostel among the locations targeted. Explosions were heard across the campus, creating an atmosphere of fear.
Following the blasts, police reportedly recovered unexploded bombs near the college guest house and close to the gate of the principal’s residence.
The recovery of the explosives has raised concerns over possible preparations for further violence on the campus. However, the exact motive behind the attacks and whether they are directly linked to the student elections are yet to be established.
Recent reports said the incidents took place shortly after the college issued a notification regarding the student election, adding to concerns over the law-and-order situation on the campus.

Following the incidents, college authorities submitted a written complaint at Jajpur Road Adarsha Police Station, seeking action against those responsible.
Police have launched an investigation and are examining different aspects of the case. CCTV footage from the campus is also being examined to identify the persons allegedly involved.

In view of the tense situation, additional police personnel have been deployed in and around the college campus to prevent any further incident and maintain law and order.
The authorities are also keeping a close watch on the situation ahead of the student council election.
