Bhubaneswar, Oct 7: The Odisha Higher Education Department on Wednesday issued notification for student union elections in colleges and universities for the academic year 2026-27, with polling scheduled for October 15.

According to the official schedule, the election notification was issued on October 7, marking the beginning of the election process.

Students seeking to contest the elections can file their nominations on October 9 between 10 am and 1 pm. The scrutiny of nominations will be held from 2 pm to 4 pm on the same day, followed by the publication of the list of valid nominations at 5 pm.

Candidates will have the option to withdraw their nominations on October 10 between 10 am and 1 pm. The final list of candidates will be published at 3 pm that day.

As part of the election process, a meeting on “Why I Stand For” will be held on October 14.

Polling is scheduled for October 15 from 8 am to 2 pm. Counting of votes will begin at 2 pm and continue until all votes are counted and the results are formally declared.

The oath-taking ceremony will be held on October 16 at 11 am. The day will also serve as the reserved day, referred to as the Presidential Holiday, according to the schedule.
