Kolkata, April 7: BJP candidate Raju Patra, contesting from Galsi Assembly in East Burdwan, West Bengal, took an unconventional approach to filing his nomination on Tuesday—arriving on a bulldozer.
Patra’s message was clear: if elected, he promises to eradicate corruption, violence, and lack of development in the region, pledging to use a “bulldozer” to address issues like atrocities and crime. Inspired by Uttar Pradesh's "bulldozer model," he vowed to tackle crimes such as murder, rape, and extortion in West Bengal.
The event attracted significant attention, with Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya attending as the chief guest. Candidates from multiple constituencies joined in a procession that culminated at Curzon Gate, where nominations were officially filed.
Voting in Bengal will begin on April 23, with results expected on May 4.
