Bhubaneswar police launch night blocking drive; over 70 vehicles seized

Bhubaneswar, Oct 2: Criminals in the capital city were in for a surprise late at night as Bhubaneswar Police launched an extensive night blocking and checking drive across several parts of the city.

The operation was conducted for the first time after new DCP Shravan Vivek M took charge.

The DCP personally visited the newly established blocking points, reviewed the arrangements and issued necessary instructions to police personnel.

The night operation involved four Additional DCPs, six zonal ACPs and officers from all police stations, along with four platoons of police force.

Police conducted intensive patrolling and naka checking in several sensitive areas. PCR vans and bike-patrolling teams were deployed to keep a close watch on suspicious movements.

The operation primarily focused on drunk driving, illegal sand transportation and criminal activities.

During the checking, police seized more than 70 vehicles, including sand-laden vehicles, Hyvas, tractors, luxury cars and cranes.

The night blocking drive is part of the police's effort to strengthen surveillance, prevent criminal activities and improve road safety across Bhubaneswar.
