Bhubaneswar police introduces SOS-based safety app for women

Bhubaneswar, May 20: The Commissionerate Police launched the mobile application aimed at strengthening women’s safety and ensuring faster emergency response.

The app was inaugurated by the Police Commissioner in Bhubaneswar. Designed as a quick-response safety platform, the application enables women to seek immediate police assistance during emergencies with just a single tap.

According to officials, once the SOS button is pressed, the phone camera automatically captures three photographs. The user’s live GPS location along with the images is instantly transmitted to the police control room for swift action.

The application also automatically redirects the user to dial emergency helpline number 112, allowing direct communication with police and other emergency services. After the call, users are provided with an option to record and send a short video as additional evidence.

Police officials said the app has been developed to provide real-time support and improve emergency response mechanisms for women in distress.

The app is currently available for download on Android smartphones through the Google Play Store.
