Bhubaneswar, May 25: Properties worth lakhs were reduced to ashes after a massive fire broke out at a mattress factory near Mancheswar Railway Station in Bhubaneswar late last night.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.
As per reports, the devastating fire started suddenly and quickly spread through the factory, burning large amounts of foam, plastic, cotton, and cloth stored inside. Since these materials highly flammable, the flames grew fast and engulfed the whole factory.
According to eye witnesses, the flames shot up into the sky, and the whole factory was on fire within minutes. The flames spread so fast that thick smoke covered the area.
Upon getting the information, firefighting teams rushed to the spot and doused the flames after hours of strenuous effort.
Though the exact cause behind the blaze is yet to be ascertained, it caused heavy financial loss to the factory. Early estimates say the damage could be several lakhs of rupees.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
