Bhubaneswar, Oct 18: The festive spirit in Odisha remains vibrant as the city is beautifully adorned for Laxmi Puja, which has been underway since October 16. After Dussehra, Gajalaxmi Puja, or Laxmi Puja, is one of the state’s most cherished festivals, marked by community engagement and elaborate celebrations.

 

This year, an impressive 50 community pujas have transformed the urban landscape with stunning pandals and magnificent idols of Goddess Laxmi, lavishly adorned with silver and gold ornaments. Among the notable contributors is the Bapuji Nagar Youth Organisation, which has created a visually captivating pandal expected to attract many visitors.

Prominent mandaps in Nicco Park, Saheed Nagar, Kharvela Nagar, Ashok Nagar, and Sachivalaya Marg are equipped with CCTV surveillance, ensuring safety and smooth festivities for all participants.

 

As locals embark on pandal hopping, the entire area bursts with life, illuminated by vibrant lights, accompanied by lively music and a variety of food stalls offering delectable treats. The Meena Bazaar features a giant wheel, merry-go-rounds, and other fun games, with musical performances extending late into the night, enhancing the festive atmosphere.

 

Local authorities and police have implemented extensive arrangements to ensure a joyful and secure Laxmi Puja experience. This colorful festival transcends age, uniting people from diverse backgrounds to celebrate divine blessings.

 

In addition to the celebrations, many organizations are leveraging this occasion to raise awareness about crucial social issues, such as girl child education, women's empowerment, and gender equality, highlighting the festival's significance beyond mere festivities.
