Bhubaneswar, Oct 1: The Bomikhal Puja Committee has kicked off preparations for the festive season for the grand 61st Durga Puja celebration.
This year, the pandal will showcase a blend of Persian and Indian architectural styles, with the arch named after the iconic "French Palace." This striking design is expected to become a major attraction. The Durga Puja Committee plans to highlight India's national bird- peacock, prominently in the arch's design.
The structure will stand at impressive heights of 80 and 120 feet, with a 20-foot idol accompanying it. A significant highlight will be a 7 kg crown adorning the statue of Goddess Durga. This year's budget for the celebrations has been set at Rs 50 lakhs. From the sixth day of the festival, devotees will enjoy “Annaprasad" and "Khichdi."
Special attention will be given to a special puja associated to women in the eighth day. Moreover, ‘Bhajan sandhya’, followed by a melodious cultural program will last through the night.
Additionally, the puja pandal will be equipped with 12 CCTV cameras, ensuring security overseen by 60 police personnel. The celebrations will feature traditional dance and music, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the capital.
