Bhubaneswar, Aug 6: The Commissionerate police on Tuesday arrested two including the prime accused of the high profile Nabaghana Patasani alias Banka murder case. Body of Banka was recovered from a River in Niali on July 20.
As per initial reports, Banka had left from his home in the Baramunda area on July 17 in his vehicle. When he did not return the same day, his family members filed a missing complaint at the Khandagiri and Bharatpur police stations. Subsequently, individuals intercepted Banka’s vehicle, which was being driven by someone else. It was discovered that Banka had taken some money by mortgaging the vehicle.
On July 20, Banka's body was discovered from a River in Niali. The local police conducted a post-mortem and registered a case of unnatural death since the body could not be immediately identified. Sources mentioned that the body had injuries on the head and neck area.
On July 30, Banka's family members showed a photo of deceased to the police, facilitating the identification of Banka's body. Subsequently, Govindpur police, in the presence of the family, exhumed the body. Later, the family members identified the body as Banka's, notably recognizing him by a copper ring.
According to sources, Banka was murdered in a hotel room before his body was disposed of in a waterbody. The police also confiscated the vehicle used to transport Banka's body from the hotel room to the waterbody. The primary suspect, Bunti, allegedly killed Banka following a dispute over money.
