Bargarh, May 20: An auto-rickshaw driver was allegedly killed by a group of miscreants during the polls in Sarsara village under Sadar police limits in Odisha’s Bargarh district on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Biswanath Mirdha of Baritikra village of the district. 

According to the information, during the polling at the Government Primary School in Sarsara village, a group of armed individuals instilled fear among voters. Biswanath, who was carrying voters to the polling station, confronted the assailants and was severely beaten. One attacker also injured him critically with a sharp weapon.

Following the attack, Biswanath sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the nearby hospital. However, doctors declared him brought dead. 

Following the incident, IG Himanshu Lal and Bargarh SP Prahallad Sai Meena arrived at the scene, calming the agitated crowd and sent the body for post-mortem.
