New Delhi, September 22 – Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has called on all citizens to embrace Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting indigenous products and services under the "Swadeshi" movement. In a post on X, Vaishnaw shared, "I am moving to Zoho – our very own Swadeshi platform for documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. I urge everyone to join PM Shri @narendramodi Ji’s call for Swadeshi by adopting local products and services."
Vaishnaw’s message aligns with the government's continued push for a self-reliant India, or "Aatmanirbhar Bharat." This call also echoes Prime Minister Modi's ongoing efforts to empower local industries and foster national self-sufficiency.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi engaged with traders and merchants in Arunachal Pradesh during his visit to the state. Local traders praised the government’s reforms, particularly highlighting the introduction of the 'One Nation, One Tax' initiative through GST. They recalled how dealing with multiple taxes used to be a challenge before the implementation of this landmark reform. They expressed their appreciation for the rationalization of GST, calling it another significant achievement under Modi’s leadership, with one trader famously noting, "Modi hain to Mumkin hai."
Further discussions revealed that the government’s tax reforms were expected to reduce construction costs, making housing more affordable. The availability of cheaper raw materials would also support the production of cost-effective local goods. The hotel industry representatives highlighted that the GST cuts would provide a significant boost to domestic tourism, while agriculture and fisheries sectors anticipated major benefits.
During the interaction, Prime Minister Modi encouraged local businesses, reaffirming his commitment as a staunch supporter of Swadeshi products. He urged citizens to “buy Swadeshi and sell Swadeshi,” emphasizing the critical role of self-reliance in realizing the goal of a developed, "Viksit Bharat."
