Bhubaneswar, August 30: A Parliamentary Joint Committee on Salaries and Allowances has recommended revising the salaries, allowances, pensions and other benefits of sitting and former legislators in Odisha.
The committee, visiting Bhubaneswar, held discussions on Sunday with Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling, Assembly Secretary Satyabrata Rout and senior officials.
The panel compared Odisha’s existing provisions with those available to MPs and legislators in other states and observed that the benefits for Odisha legislators require revision.
The delegation was led by committee chairman and MP Birendra Prasad Baishya. Several MPs and Parliament Director Vatsala Joshi were also part of the team.
