Mumbai, Sept 5: In a recent episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 16’, host Amitabh Bachchan delved into the intriguing techniques behind shooting with India’s prominent Olympian Manu Bhaker, who recently clinched two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics. Joining Manu was wrestler Aman Sehrawat, also a bronze medalist.
During the episode, Big B expressed his curiosity about the pauses shooters take after firing a shot. He revealed that he initially didn’t understand the reason behind the delay until his son Abhishek Bachchan explained that it involves controlling breathing and heart rate, which are crucial for accuracy.
Manu Bhaker elaborated on the complexities of shooting, explaining that having a solid foundation is essential. She noted that while many perceive shooting as a simple task of aiming and firing, it involves much more. The sport requires maintaining composure even when heart rates spike and nerves are frayed.
To manage this, Manu relies on a disciplined routine that includes yoga, Surya Namaskar, and meditation. She employs a specific breathing technique with a 4:8 ratio—inhale for four seconds and exhale for eight seconds—to regulate her heart rate and calm her nerves. This practice helps stabilize her hands during high-pressure moments in matches.
In a touching moment, Manu demonstrated her breathing technique to Amitabh Bachchan. After trying it himself, the legendary actor jokingly declared, “I’m also a champion now!”
