New Delhi, November 11: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed security agencies to track down and apprehend all individuals responsible for the devastating Delhi blast, which claimed 12 lives on Monday evening.
Following the blast near the iconic Red Fort, which also left 20 injured and destroyed several vehicles, Shah emphasized that those involved in the attack would face the full force of the law. His remarks came after he chaired two high-level security review meetings to assess the situation and plan further action.
"After chairing review meetings on the Delhi car blast with senior officials, I have instructed them to apprehend every culprit behind this attack. Everyone involved in this heinous act will face the full wrath of our agencies," Shah said on social media platform X.
The first review meeting was attended by key officials, including Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau (IB) Director Tapan Deka, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha, and National Investigation Agency (NIA) Director General Sadanand Vasant Date. Jammu and Kashmir's DGP, Nalin Prabhat, also participated in the discussions remotely. Officials provided in-depth briefings on the aftermath of the explosion.
The second security review meeting took place later in the afternoon, with the same set of senior officials attending to further assess the situation.
In a significant development, the Ministry of Home Affairs has handed over the investigation into the blast to the NIA, indicating that the government is treating the explosion as a potential terrorist attack. The NIA, which specializes in counter-terrorism investigations, will lead the probe.
Shah assured the public that top investigative agencies are working diligently to uncover the perpetrators and the motives behind the blast. "We will leave no stone unturned in investigating this attack," he affirmed.
The explosion occurred in a car that was stuck at a traffic signal near the Red Fort metro station. The blast resulted in the loss of 12 lives and injured at least 20 people, while also causing extensive damage to several vehicles in the vicinity, officials confirmed.
