Cuttack, August 5: A controversy has intensified at Ravenshaw University after all hostel wardens and deputy wardens tendered their collective resignations, alleging political interference in the university's administration.
The development follows unrest at the university's East Hostel, where students have been protesting since Saturday. The agitation began with a hunger strike by hostel residents demanding the resignation of the Deputy Warden. Despite multiple rounds of discussions between the university authorities and the protesting students, no breakthrough was achieved.
The situation took a political turn when Cuttack Sadar MLA Prakash Chandra Sethi visited the campus and interacted with the agitating students. During the visit, the legislator allegedly made objectionable remarks against the Chief Warden and several faculty members, triggering fresh controversy.
In response, all hostel wardens and deputy wardens submitted their resignations on Tuesday afternoon, expressing their opposition to what they described as political interference in the functioning of the university. The mass resignation has added a new dimension to the ongoing campus unrest and raised concerns over administrative autonomy at the institution.
