Bhubaneswar, Oct 13: An unidentified miscreant allegedly shot dead an employee of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar in Sarkantra area of the city this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Sudhanshu Khuntia.

As per reports, the assailant reportedly arrived on a scooter and opened fire on Sudhanshu while he was returning home after finishing his shift at the premiere medical institution.

Though the exact motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained, preliminary investigation suggests that the attack might have stemmed from a past enmity.

The incident triggered tension in the area, prompting a swift response from the police, who reached the scene and launched an investigation.

The situation escalated further when Sudhanshu’s brother allegedly attacked a person suspected to be involved in the shooting, adding to the unrest in the locality.

Police have seized the deceased’s body and sent it for post-mortem.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
