New Delhi, October 1: The third and final phase of polling in the Jammu and Kashmir elections recorded a 65.48% voter turnout by 5 pm on Tuesday, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Udhampur led with 72.91%, followed by Samba at 72.41%, Kathua at 70.53%, Jammu at 66.79%, Bandipora at 63.33%, and Baramulla at 55.73%.
This election marks the first since the abrogation of Article 370, with 415 candidates contesting across 40 constituencies.
The Jammu division holds 24 constituencies, while the rest are in the Kashmir Valley. High-profile campaigners included Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Rahul Gandhi, and former J-K chief ministers.
Notably, the West Pakistani refugee community voted for the first time after gaining citizenship.
The first phase of voting, held on September 18, saw 61.13% turnout, while the second phase on September 25 recorded 56.31%. Vote counting is set for October 8.
