41 SOA researchers named in Stanford University’s top 2 per cent list of scientists

Bhubaneswar, Sept. 20: Fortyone researchers of Siksha 'O' Anusandhan Deemed to be University here have found place in the list of world's top 2 per cent scientists for 2025 prepared by the prestigious Stanford University of USA.

The Deemed to be University, ranked 15th in the country among institutes of higher education by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2025, had 32 of its scientists in Stanford's global list of top 2 per cent scientists in 2024.

Stanford’s top 2 per cent scientists’ list is an emerging ranking focusing on researchers in two categories: career long impact and recent single-year impact.

The SOA list includes 23 researchers drawn from different disciplines of engineering who are working in the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), SOA's faculty of engineering and technology, while 11 have been picked from five of the research centers set up by the university. Four scientists are from the faculty of pharmaceutical sciences, two from medical sciences and one from agricultural sciences.

Among the researchers named in the list are Prof. Pradipta Kumar Dash, former Director of Multi-Disciplinary Research Cell, and Prof. (Dr) Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, eminent neuro surgeon and Principal Advisor (Health Sciences), both of whom are former Vice-Chancellors of the university.

The list includes Prof. Kulamani Parida, Director of Centre for Nano Sciences and Nano Technology (CNNT), Prof. Lala Behari Sukla, Director of Bio-fuels Bio-processing Research Center (BBRC), Prof. Hrudaynath Thatoi, Director of Center for Industrial Bio-technolgy Research (CIBR) and Prof. Sanghamitra Nayak, Head, Center for Biotechnology (CBT).

The researchers from ITER who have found place in the list include Prof. R.N.P. Chaudhary, Prof. Manohar Mishra, Prof. Rashmi Acharya, Prof. Satya Ranjan Mishra, Prof. Rajashree Dash, Prof. Binod Kumar Sahu, Prof. Renu Sharma, Prof. Niharbala Devi, Prof. P.G.R. Achary, Dr. Lopamudra Acharya, Dr. Bhagyashree Priyadarshini Mishra, Dr. Satyabrata Subudhi, Dr. Sekhar Chandra Ray, Dr. Subhashree Choudhury, Dr. Akshay Kumar Verma, Dr. Seshadev Sahoo, Dr. Santosh Kumar Parida, Dr. Akshaya Kumar Patra, Dr. Rahul Priyadarshi, Dr. Debasish Panda, Dr. Sudhanshu Sekhar Hota and Dr. Suresh Kumar Patra.

The other scientists named in the list are Prof. Ramesh Chandra Ray, Adjunct Professor in CIBR, Prof. Goutam Rath, Prof. Amit Kumar Nayak, Dr. Vineet Kumar Rai and Dr. Anindita Behera (all pharmaceutical sciences) and Dr. Sujogya Kumar Panda (CBT), Prof. Rabindra Nath Padhy (Central Research Lab), Dr. Sulagna Patnaik and Dr. Dipti Prava Sahoo (both from CNNT), Prof. Gyana Ranjan Rout (Agricultural Sciences), Dr. Debabrata Pradhan (Bio-fuels and Bio-Processing Research Centre) and Prof. Tapas Ranjan Routray and Dr. Subhasmita Swain (CETMS).
