Bhubaneswar, Oct 4: In a major crackdown, officials from the Customs Department and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 3.2 kilograms of marijuana, valued at ₹3 crore, at Biju Patnaik International Airport on Saturday.
The consignment had arrived from Bangkok.
A man from Kerala has been arrested in connection with the smuggling attempt and is currently being interrogated. Authorities suspect he may be part of a larger international drug trafficking network.
This incident follows a similar seizure in August, when Customs officials confiscated marijuana worth ₹4 crore from a couple arriving from Bangkok.
In total, marijuana worth over ₹8 crore was seized from the airport in August alone. That bust involved drugs smuggled from Thailand on an IndiGo flight, with a youth from Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
