1,741 errors in new textbooks, 10 officials face action: Minister

Odisha Textbook Errors: 1,741 Mistakes Found, 10 Officials Face Action

Bhubaneswar, Sep 25: The Odisha government has identified 1,741 errors in newly introduced textbooks for students from Class I to Class VIII, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond informed the Odisha Assembly on Friday.

The minister shared the details while responding to a question raised by MLA Goutam Buddha Das.

According to Gond, action has been taken against 10 officials in connection with the errors.

The former director of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and three former deputy directors have been suspended from service.

Disciplinary proceedings have also been initiated against six deputy directors over the lapses.

To help address the errors, the government has supplied corrigendum sheets and corrected materials to teachers for use in classrooms, the minister said.

The minister said that the government is continuing work on the revision and distribution of updated textbooks to rectify the mistakes identified in the newly introduced books.
