Odisha has 13.79 lakh registered unemployed youths: Minister tells Assembly

Of them, altogether 1,43,437 youths are diploma and degree holders (Technical and nontechnical), said the Minister in response to a query of BJD MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain.

Odisha Has 13.79 Lakh Registered Unemployed Youths, Minister Tells Assembly

Bhubaneswar, September: Odisha has 13,79,424 unemployed youths, who have registered themselves with different District Skill Development-cum-Employment offices in the State, until May 31 this year. Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Samapd Chandra Swain said this in a written reply in the State Assembly on Friday.

Of them, altogether 1,43,437 youths are diploma and degree holders (Technical and nontechnical), said the Minister in response to a query of senior BJD MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain.

The Minister said that two employment-based training programmes - Placement Linked Training Programme (PLTP) and Nua Odisha - were being implemented by the Skill Development and Technical Education Department with an aim to reduce the unemployment rate in the State.

Swain said through these programmes efforts were being taken to ensure that unemployed youths receive skill development trainings and employment. He added that the District Skill Development-cum-Employment office are also organising job fair and job drives in district levels to help unemployed youths get employment.
