Bhubaneswar, Sep 5: A 12-year-old boy tragically drowned in a canal in Bhubaneswar on Friday while reportedly filming a video reel.

The boy has been identified as Prakash Sethi from Damana village.

According to reports, Prakash and six friends went to the canal to bathe, despite warnings from locals about the strong currents caused by heavy rainfall. The group was attempting to record a slow-motion video of themselves jumping into the canal. While the others safely returned to the shore, Prakash slipped into deeper water and was unable to swim back.

When Prakash did not resurface, bystanders raised an alarm and contacted the Fire Service. Rescue teams arrived promptly and began searching the canal. Prakash was found unconscious near the far end of the canal bank and was immediately taken to a hospital. Unfortunately, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
