Bhubaneswar, June 4:Ananta Narayan Jena, BJD candidate, emerged victorious in the Bhubaneswar Central (Madhya) Assembly Election 2024. He secured a narrow margin of 37 votes over his nearest rival, Jagannatha Pradhan of the BJP.
Notably, this is the second time Jena won this seat. In the 2019 elections, Jena had secured 54,022 votes, defeating BJP’s Jagannath Pradhan,who had received 27,718 votes1.
Similarly, BJD’s Sushant Kumar Rout also secured a second victory this time from the Bhubaneswar North assembly seat. This time, Rout defeated his nearest rival BJP’s Priyadarshi Mishra. Priyadarshi had switched from BJD at the last moment when he was denied the party ticket and BJP nominated him against the incumbent MLA Sushant Kumar Rout.
On the other hand, the three-time BJD MLA Ashok Chandra Panda faced defeat, losing to BJP candidate Babu Singh in Ekamra Bhubaneswar this time.. Babu Singh secured his first victory in this election. Notably, in 2019, Singh had lost to BJD's Panda by a significant margin
