Mayurbhanj, Aug 14: In a heartbreaking incident in Mayurbhanj district, a youth committed suicide at the Subarnarekha canal in Chaulgheri, Mayurbhanj. The victim's body was recovered tied to his bike in the water.
The deceased has been identified as Ratikant Mohant, a resident of Shalvani village of Jharsuguda.
Despite efforts by local residents to rescue him, high water levels made it impossible for them to reach him. Firefighters were later called to the scene and they retrieved the body.
Upon arrival, the police took the body to a nearby health center, where the doctor declared him dead. The body has been sent for a post-mortem at PRM Medical College.
Sources indicate that Ratikant had been facing family issues, with reports stating that his wife had recently filed a complaint at the police station. Following the complaint, Ratikant had reportedly left his home and moved in with his father.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
