Baripada. April 17: In a tragic incident, the bodies of a young couple were found hanging from a tree in Kaliaposi village under Thakurmunda police limits of Mayurbhanj district on Friday morning.

According to reports, locals spotted the bodies of a youth and a young woman hanging from a karanja tree at the outskirts of the village. A water bottle was found lying near the tree, while a college bag was kept close to the spot. Shocked villagers immediately alerted the police.

Police reached the scene and initiated an investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that the deceased were in a relationship. The girl was a resident of Kaliaposi village, while the boy hailed from Sunaposi under Karanjia police limits.

Though the exact reason behind the incident is yet to be confirmed, police suspect that it could be linked to a love affair.

Thakurmunda police, along with fire service personnel, have recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem. Further details are awaited, and the exact cause of death will be ascertained after the post-mortem report and completion of the investigation.
