Cuttack, Mar 21: Just five days after a devastating fire claimed 13 lives at SCB Medical College and Hospital (MCH), a new fire broke out in a storeroom behind the ENT outpatient department.
Hospital staff quickly alerted the fire brigade, who arrived promptly and brought the blaze under control before it could spread. Thankfully, the fire was doused swiftly, and no casualties or significant damage were reported. Authorities have confirmed that the situation is now fully under control.
This marks the third fire-related incident at the hospital within a week. Earlier, a fire scare was reported in the non-trauma ward when smoke was detected, prompting immediate action from authorities.
The recurrence of such incidents has raised serious safety concerns. The recent tragedy, in which 13 people lost their lives in a previous fire at the hospital, underscores the urgent need for stringent fire safety measures and regular monitoring of the facility.
Hospital officials have assured that investigations are underway to identify the causes and prevent further incidents, while authorities are reviewing safety protocols to ensure patient and staff safety.
