Mumbai, Dec 5: Bollywood actor Yami Gautam is in a celebratory mood today as her husband, Aditya Dhar's much-anticipated film Dhurandhar hits theatres. Taking to social media, Yami expressed her pride and admiration for her husband’s dedication towards the film, praising his relentless efforts in bringing the project to life.
On X (formerly Twitter), Yami penned an emotional note for Aditya and the team, saying, “It’s DHURANDHAR DAY today!!!! Some of the hardest working & gem of people that I know & proud to call them my family!!! You have given all your heart, devotion, dedication, intent, passion, sweat, blood, tears (which you never show) to this film, Aditya!!!”
She continued, expressing her overwhelming emotions, “Too many emotions running today, many hearts beating together!!! You guys are Dhurandhars in your own might. DHURANDHAR is not a parting gift of 2025 but is here to welcome 2026 for all of us across the globe. Ab yeh aapki film hai, audience..Jai Hind.”
Directed and written by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is a spy-action thriller starring a stellar cast, including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal in key roles. The film is produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios.
In addition to celebrating the release, Yami also took a moment to address her concerns about the growing trend of “extortion-like” marketing tactics within the industry. The actress expressed her disapproval of the practice, where filmmakers are allegedly pressured into paying for "hype" and "good publicity" or face negative coverage before their films even release.
In a heartfelt note shared on Instagram, Yami called out this disturbing trend, referencing the targeted "negativity" surrounding Dhurandhar even before its release. She wrote, “There is something I’ve been wanting to express for a long time, and I feel today is that day & I must. This so-called trend of giving money, under the guise of marketing a film, to ensure good ‘hype’ is created for a film, or else ‘they’ will continuously write negative things (even before the film is released), until you pay ‘them’ money, feels nothing but a kind of extortion.”
She added, “Just because this arrangement is accessible to anyone, whether to ‘hype’ a film or spread negativity against another actor or a film, is a plague that is going to affect the future of our industry in a big way.”
Yami, who is currently seen in Haq opposite Emraan Hashmi, has been vocal about such industry practices, aiming to encourage more authenticity and integrity in film marketing. Haq, produced under Junglee Pictures by Vineet Jain, Vishal Gurnani, Juhi Parekh Mehta, and Harman Baweja, marks another significant project in her career.
As Dhurandhar makes its debut, Yami’s powerful words about the industry’s future seem poised to stir conversation about the evolving nature of film promotion and its impact on cinema.
