Doha, May 15: While speaking to U.S. military personnel at the al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, U.S. President Donald Trump once again asserted that he played a significant role in de-escalating rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
“I don’t want to take full credit, but I definitely helped ease the situation between Pakistan and India last week, which was becoming increasingly dangerous,” Trump remarked during his address.
He further added, “You could have started seeing a different kind of missile flying around. But we got things under control. At least, I believe we did. I just hope I don’t walk out of here and find out in two days that things have flared up again.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has made such a claim regarding his involvement in South Asian diplomacy, although neither India nor Pakistan has officially confirmed any such mediation.
