Cuttack, June 14: The vibrant four-day Raja Festival is being celebrated as a major cultural event in Odisha. However, the children from tribal families, the festival out of reach.
In an inspiring gesture, Cuttack-based Pragati Foundation has launched a special initiative to bring smiles to their faces.
The celebration took place in Kansar village under Kandarei Panchayat, a tribal-dominated area in the Khuntuni police station limits of Cuttack district. The event saw participation from over a hundred children and families from tribal groups, including the Munda and Dhundhi Sahi communities.
To ensure the children could enjoy the Raja festival like others, the foundation distributed new clothes, slippers, and festive essentials. Girls received traditional items such as face powder, snow, alta, ribbons, and other cosmetics to help them dress up for the occasion.
The event concluded with sweets and a community meal, creating an atmosphere of joy and celebration. The initiative was praised for not only promoting cultural inclusion but also for highlighting the spirit of compassion and community upliftment.
