Trump says US negotiators will head to Pakistan for Iran ceasefire talks

Washington DC [US], April 19: US President Donald Trump on Sunday revealed that American representatives, including Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, will be heading to Pakistan on Monday for ceasefire negotiations with Iran. The President also issued a stern warning to Iran, stating that if they refuse the deal, the US would take aggressive action, including targeting Iranian energy and civil infrastructure.

Trump shared the announcement in a post on Truth Social, emphasizing that this was Iran's "last chance" to reach an agreement. He vowed not to repeat the mistakes of former President Obama. "If Iran does not sign this deal, the whole country is getting blown up," Trump told Fox News reporter Trey Yingst.

When asked about the delegation’s trip to Pakistan, Trump confirmed that Witkoff and Kushner would be returning to Islamabad for negotiations. "My people are arriving tomorrow night. I’m sending Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner back to Islamabad. They know the players, they know how to make a deal. They'll be there this week, giving diplomacy one last chance. But the clock is ticking," Trump stated. "Most of the points have already been conceded; Iran knows they can’t have nuclear weapons anymore. That’s over. It’s been obliterated. Now, they just need to sign the paper and open the Strait."

Last week, US Vice President J.D. Vance led negotiations with Iranian intermediaries in Islamabad, but those talks ended without a breakthrough. Witkoff, who serves as Trump's special envoy to the Middle East, and Kushner, the President's son-in-law, are now tasked with pushing the talks forward.

In his Truth Social post, Trump also accused Iran of violating the ceasefire agreement. "Iran decided to fire bullets yesterday in the Strait of Hormuz — a total violation of our ceasefire agreement. Many were aimed at a French ship and a British freighter. Not nice, was it?" he wrote. Trump emphasized that his representatives would be in Islamabad soon to continue the negotiations.

Regarding the ongoing blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, Trump claimed that Iran was suffering financially, losing $500 million per day due to the closure, while the US was unaffected. "Iran’s the one losing, closing the Strait. They're helping us without knowing it," Trump said. "The United States loses nothing. In fact, ships are heading to the U.S. right now, to Texas, Louisiana, and Alaska, thanks to the IRGC, always wanting to be the 'tough guy'!"

Trump reiterated that the deal on the table was fair and reasonable, warning that failure to accept it would result in serious consequences. "We’re offering a very fair and reasonable deal, and I hope they take it," he said. "If they don’t, the United States will take out every single power plant and bridge in Iran. No more Mr. Nice Guy! It’s time for the Iran killing machine to end" ( With Agency Input)
