Jajpur, Sept 15: In a heartbreaking incident in Thakurmunda block, Mayurbhanj district, a man tragically lost his life in a road accident while transporting his father's body for cremation.

According to reports, 65-year-old Gopabandhu Nayak from Mituani village had been suffering from chest pain due to complications related to high blood pressure. He lost consciousness and was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, where he was declared dead.

His only son, Shubh, had been bringing his father’s body back to their village on Sunday when disaster struck. During the journey, Shubh stopped the ambulance near Madhapur and stepped out to fetch water. In a devastating turn of events, he was hit by a pickup van, sustaining severe injuries, including fractures to both legs and one arm.

Shubh was immediately taken to Jajpur Road Hospital for treatment. Still, due to the critical nature of his injuries, he was referred back to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.

This double tragedy has left the family reeling and has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many expressing their disbelief and sorrow at the unfortunate turn of events.
