Balasore, July 12: In a tragic incident, three individuals lost their lives after being struck by lightning while working at the Rissia Canal in Raipala village under Telipala Panchayat of Nilgiri block.
The deceased include a JCB operator and two laborers who were reportedly engaged in canal-related work when the lightning struck suddenly. The unexpected weather event turned fatal, leaving no time for the victims to seek shelter.
Upon receiving information, Nilgiri police reached the spot, recovered the bodies, and sent them for post-mortem examination. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
Local residents have expressed grief over the unfortunate loss of lives and called for better safety measures for workers exposed to harsh weather conditions.
