Sambalpur, Oct 8: Police in Sambalpur prevented a major tragedy on Thursday after rescuing a young woman who allegedly attempted to die by suicide by jumping into the Mahanadi River from the Chaunrpur Bridge.
According to the available information, the woman reached the bridge and was apparently preparing to jump into the river.
Police intervene in time
The incident was noticed in time by police personnel deployed in the area, following which officers intervened and managed to stop her from taking the extreme step.
The Sambalpur Town Police subsequently rescued the woman from the bridge and ensured that she was brought to safety.
