Bhubaneswar, May 1: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow alerts for several Odisha districts, warning of thunderstorms, gusty winds, and heavy rainfall from May 2 to 4.
On May 2, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak may experience thunderstorms with gusts up to 50 kmph. Lighter thunderstorms are expected in several other districts, including Cuttack, Angul, and Malkangiri.
May 3 brings orange warnings for Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, and Ganjam, with likely hailstorms, strong winds (up to 60 kmph), and heavy rain. Yellow alerts cover coastal and southern districts.
May 4 forecasts similar severe weather for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Balasore. Widespread yellow alerts have also been issued for central and southern Odisha.
Residents and farmers are urged to stay alert, avoid outdoor exposure during storms, and protect crops using hail nets.
