Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain to Lash Odisha Over Next Three Days, IMD Issues Alerts

Bhubaneswar, June 27:The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by widespread rainfall across Odisha over the next three days, urging residents to remain vigilant as unstable weather conditions are expected to persist.

According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Kandhamal and Koraput districts on Saturday. In response to the forecast, the weather department has issued an Orange Warning for 10 districts, while 20 districts have been placed under a Yellow Warning due to the risk of thunderstorms and lightning.

The IMD has also predicted gusty surface winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph in several parts of the state. People have been advised to stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid open areas, and take necessary precautions against lightning strikes.

The Meteorological Centre has forecast continued thunderstorm activity across Odisha on Sunday, with lightning, gusty winds, and widespread rainfall likely to affect many regions.

The southern districts of Koraput, Rayagada, and Kandhamal are expected to receive heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours. Authorities are keeping a close watch on the evolving weather situation and have asked district administrations to remain prepared to respond to any weather-related emergencies.
