Bhubaneswar, Sept 9: Three more sacred names associated with Lord Jagannath have moved closer to receiving trademark protection. Following applications filed by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), the Trademarks Registry has accepted “Srimandir,” “Ratna Bhandar” and “Sri Nahar” for publication.
Earlier, in the first phase, trademark approval was granted for Ananda Bazaar, Patitapabana and the Nilachakra logo.
In the second phase, five more names — Jagannath Dham, Srikshetra, Mahaprasad, Nilachakra and Koili Baikuntha — were accepted for publication by the Trademarks Registry.
According to SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee, the legal protection is aimed at preventing the commercial misuse or unauthorised use of sacred names and symbols associated with Lord Jagannath and preserving their religious and cultural significance.
The temple administration has so far filed applications seeking trademark protection for a total of 29 names and logos associated with the Jagannath tradition.
